Working Groups

ADAG is a hands on organization.  Below is a list of working groups along with their members.  If you are interested in serving on any of these groups or have suggestions for additional topics, please send us an email.

Infrastructure

Task:  Coming up with and promoting better and more ways for development authorities to supply infrastructure such as water and sewer, roads, fiber optics, etc; includes legislative changes to expand powers of development authorities.

Group Benefits

Task:  Finding ways for the Association to make available group benefits (such as health insurance) to development authority executive directors and personnel.

Public/Private Partnerships

Task:  Sharing experiences and information on carrying out public/private partnerships; developing “best practices” for development authorities that enter into public/private partnerships; sharing “Do’s” and “Don’t ’s” for the same; includes legislative changes to expand powers of development authorities.

MOU’s/Project Construction

Task:  To Develop “best practices” for development authorities for MOU’s, including what’s required under the State’s new “accountability” policy and grant general and special conditions; sharing “Do’s” and “Don’t ’s” for the same, including avoiding pitfalls; includes legislative changes to remove development authorities from coverage under the “Georgia Local Government Public Works Construction Law”.

Technology/Communications

Task:  Finding ways to support the Association’s mission with technology, including broadcast emails and a website.

Retail Recruitment

Task:  Identifying special demands on development authorities related to project locations when the project is retail.

Intergovernmental and Public Relations

Task:  Working with groups like ACCG, GMA and GEDA to make the Association a partner in economic development matters of general concern; liaison with elected officials, including legislators; making the public more aware of the contributions that development authorities make to economic development, and the importance of economic development generally; liaison with the media; coordination with the Association’s professional lobbyist.
